The Place Where It All Began: Istanbul Series
Hagia Sophia, Maiden's Tower, Dolmabahçe Palace, Topkapi Palace and
Haydarpaşa Train Station
Istanbul, Türkiye
Noobuu's story began in Istanbul, inspired by the minarets, domes, and railways of this ancient city. For me, these wooden building blocks were more than just toys; they were the roots of my design discipline and a dream of entrusting the history of a city into the hands of children.
With this series, we touched the imaginations of thousands of children, teaching them not just to observe structures, but also to rebuild them. Our paths sometimes crossed with an archaeologist who dedicated his life to Hagia Sophia, and sometimes with a family whose grandfather's sweat was mixed into the stones of Haydarpaşa Train Station. For some, it became a technical collector's item, for others, a family legacy to be passed down through generations.
Even though I'm drawing completely different lines at my desk in Osaka today, that initial meticulousness and passion in my design journey is still hidden in these iconic silhouettes of Istanbul. Even though our production line has paused, this series will always remain a source of inspiration and the most valuable archive for Noobuu.
